# Stake $NODR

Stake $NODR in the dApp, and unstake it after a 21-day wait.

> Staking will earn rewards and DAO voting power once both are live. Rewards are not being paid yet. See [Testnet Status](../../introduction/testnet-status.md).

## What you need to know

- You need a Web3 wallet such as MetaMask, connected to Base Sepolia and funded with NODR. Testnet NODR comes from the `/faucet` command in the [Noderr Discord](https://discord.gg/bPznF37J2e).
- Stake gates the node tiers: Micro 0 NODR, Validator 25,000 NODR, Guardian 50,000 NODR, Oracle 150,000 NODR.
- Rewards will flow primarily to node operators, not as a flat payout per token. The node rewards pool is designed to receive 40% of protocol revenue, split 30/30/30/10 across tiers.
- DAO voting is planned. Voting power will be based on node tier. See [Governance](../../protocol/governance/README.md).
- Long term staking shows commitment to the protocol, which can improve your [TrustFingerprint](../../protocol/trustfingerprint/README.md) score.
- Unstaking takes 21 days. Read the rule below before you stake.

## Stake

1. Open the [Noderr dApp](https://dapp.noderr.xyz) and click **Staking** in the navigation.
2. Enter the amount of NODR to stake, or click **Max** to stake your balance.
3. Click **Approve** and confirm in your wallet. This lets the Noderr contract spend your NODR. You do this once.
4. When the approval confirms, the **Stake** button becomes active. Click it and confirm in your wallet.

## Unstake: the 21-day rule

All unstaking is subject to a 21-day unstaking period. You can start an unstake at any time, but your tokens only become claimable 21 days later.

1. Open the **Unstake** tab on the staking page.
2. Enter the amount to unstake and confirm the transaction.
3. Wait 21 days.
4. Claim your unstaked NODR.

The wait guards against liquidity crises in market stress and against flash loan attacks. It also keeps protocol liquidity stable for long term planning.

The rule covers staked $NODR only. Vault withdrawals are not affected. See the [Withdraw Guide](withdraw-guide.md).
