Micro Node Requirements

Platform: These requirements cover the Android connection-sharing role. For other platforms, start with the platform selector and downloads.

This document outlines the hardware, software, and staking requirements for operating a Micro Node.

What the phone needs

A Micro Node is a phone that shares its mobile connection. The requirements are about the connection, not the hardware.

Phone: any Android phone running Android 7 (API 24) or newer. Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Solana Seeker are all in use today.
SIM + mobile data: required. The node shares your carrier IP address. A phone on Wi‑Fi only has nothing to share and will show no cellular.
Power: leave it plugged in. The node runs continuously in the background.
Storage: ~100 MB for the app. No task data is stored on the phone.
RAM / CPU: anything that runs Android 7 is enough — the node is idle most of the time.
No root, no jailbreak, no computer: the egress role needs only notification and background‑use permissions. It does not need the Accessibility service, Developer Options, or Wireless Debugging — those are only for the optional full‑node role.
iOS: not yet available for the egress role. See the iOS page for status.

Mobile data plan: unlimited or high‑cap recommended — shared traffic counts against it.
Carrier policy: sharing your connection may not be allowed under some carriers' acceptable‑use policies. Check yours if unsure; the app tells you this before you agree.
Latency / bandwidth: no minimum. Better connections are selected more often.
